Chairman’s Weekend for the British Branch of EAMTM at Slaley Hall

The last weekend of October sees an end to British summer time. Not a nice thought driving to and from work in the dark is it?   However as the clocks turn back Peter and Claire will be in Northumberland attending the Chairman’s weekend with the British branch of the EAMTM.

Westermans International have been part of The European Association of Machine Tool Merchants for many, many years now and Peter travels extensively throughout Europe to meet with fellow members.  With Westermans specialising in welding equipment there are always opportunities to complete deals with the UK and European dealers on welding equipment which is often purchased along side the machine tools.

EAMTM weekend AGMThis years weekend is taking place at Slaley Hall near to Newcastle upon Tyne.   1000 acres of Northumberland moorland and forest play home to this magnificent, elegant Edwardian mansion. The members have a Golf day organised for the Saturday along with a Dinner Dance in the evening.

This will be Claire Spillane’s chance to finally put a face to the names and voices she has been dealing with for years but never had the chance to meet in person.  A weekend away with her Father, Peter will be something of an experience but she has declined the chance to travel up North on his motorbike!  She is looking forward to spending time in the Spa and pool relaxing after a very successful year!

If you have any used machine tool requirements (lathes, bending rolls, machining centres, borers, press brakes, bandsaws etc) Let us know and we can point you to the right company.

One Response to Chairman’s Weekend for the British Branch of EAMTM at Slaley Hall

  1. Westermans says:

If you have a dog, love golf, like walking and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere then this is the hotel for you! Slayley Hall near Newcastle.

It was a stunning weekend with blue skies and sunshine which made a perfect backdrop against the skyline of pine forests. One of the many bars had stunning views which you just had to appreciate whilst having your cream tea, sitting by the open fire!

It was great to meet the fellow members of the EAMTM British Branch and see not all of them were old, grey and ready for retirement!

In the short time they had to arrange the event, the secretary of the machine tool dealers association had organised a great weekend for everyone including a sweet little chappie who even attended the gala dinner in his bow tie!

I will definitely be attending more of these events and look forward to the new board members arranging some informative meetings across the UK to encourage more companies to join us.

    Claire Spillane
