The Kjellberg Finsterwalde Plasma und Maschinen GmbH is the oldest manufacturer of plasma cutting machines in the market.

The company with a long tradition was founded in 1922 as Kjellberg Elektro-Maschinen GmbH by Oscar Kjellberg, the inventor of the coated rod electrode after whom the company was named. In 1959, Kjellberg Finsterwalde started the development of plasma cutting technology. In 1962, a patent application for FineFocus plasma cutting was filed in cooperation with the scientist Manfred von Ardenne.

In 2008, the former Kjellberg Finsterwalde Elektroden und Maschinen GmbH was restructured. Four independent companies emerged which from that time on have focused on their respective specialisations. You are invited to visit the premises in Finsterwalde in the East German state of Brandenburg and experience first-hand the world of plasma cutting in the new customer and application centre. You will be able to see diverse demonstrations and training courses with a large number of different 2D and 3D guiding systems. A tour of the modern production plant completes the experience and you can find out all about Kjellberg Finsterwalde – the pioneers in plasma cutting.

Kjellberg Finsterwalde offers an extensive range of products thus providing the optimum solution for specific cutting tasks. All products are included in a brochure that is availbale for download..

Application of Kjellberg Plasma Cutting Technique

  • Plasma cutting is one of the most important separation methods in the industry because it can be flexibly used for 2D and 3D cutting tasks and for cutting all electrically conductive materials.
  • There are also interesting solutions for cutting insulating materials.
  • Bevel cutting The demands on the quality of bevel cuts have become considerably more important in recent years.
  • Hole cutting The plasma cutting of small hole diameters places high demands on the plasma cutting system and the process technology.
  • Cutting of gratings
  • Kjellberg Finsterwalde has submitted a patent application for the HotWire method which allows to cut interrupted structures or insulating materials.

Plasma gouging

  • Plasma gouging is a method for removing parts of electrically High-Power
  • TIG Welding from Kjellberg InFocus welding InFocus is an alternative to the conventional TIG welding, the laser and the plasma welding technologies.
  • The concentrated, stable and powerful arc is flexibly applicable for welding of foils, thin and thick plates. Features of InFocus, as precision, reliability and reproducibility, open up new possibilities for automated production.
  • The wide range of industrial applications clearly shows this flexibility: longitudinal welding with a speed of up to 15 m/min, keyhole welding of mild steel, soldering of galvanised sheets and much more.
